State Information:

Maryland, thanks to its small size, has one of the highest population densities of all the states. It is also one of the richest states, with the highest median household income. Small businesses, then, can do very well with a brick and mortar store in one of the more populated parts of the state. Maryland's manufacturing sector is also very cutting edge, with factories churning out products and materials for the electronics, aerospace, defense, and chemical industries.

The state also sponsors small business development centers throughout Maryland, which help train small business owners and instruct them on what, exactly, they need to do before they get started. Maryland might even be able to help small businesses secure financing, depending on the area they are being set up in and their industry. So, despite the higher tax rates and slightly complicated start-up process, Maryland is one of the best states to start a business in. Click here to learn more about starting a business in Maryland.
