What is the Process

Learn how easy it is incorporate or form an LLC with MyCorporation®.

MyCorporation was founded to simplify the lives of entrepreneurs and small business owners, and over the fifteen years we have been in business, we have never strayed from that mission. We want to help everyone with an entrepreneur drive, even those who aren't sure where to start, and our sales and processing teams work hard to make the ordering process as smooth and uncomplicated as possible. In fact, we do most of the paperwork for you - all you have to do is answer a few questions! But before we get to those questions, first you have to decide what you want to file.

1. Choose a product or service.

Starting and maintaining a business can be a bit confusing, so we do offer a free start-up consultation to help you choose what products and services best suit your needs. But if you already know what you need, you can just jump right into the site.

Our site header is divided into four main categories - Start My Business, Run My Business, Trademarks/Copyrights, and our Learning Center. The Learning Center is meant to answer some of the more common questions we get about our services, so for this guide we will just focus on the first three.

Start My Business is, obviously, where you go when you are first starting out. It is where you can start the process to file a 'doing business as' (DBA) name, incorporate, form an LLC, or file any tax and management paperwork, like an application for an EIN or a Business License. If you want to sell any products or services under a name other than your own, you will at the very least need a DBA name. We can check, for free, whether or not your business's name is available - all you have to do is fill out this form and tell us your business's name, the state you're in, and how we can get in contact with you.

Run My Business is meant for maintenance. The links under that header allow you to file for certificates of good standing, foreign qualifications, and dissolutions. We can also help you to amend your current corporate bylaws, reinstate your business, and file an annual report.

Finally, Trademarks and Copyrights is where you'd go to protect your intellectual property. But, along with filing for trademark and copyright protection, we can also monitor your trademarks and stop potential infringement.

2. Choose your package

Most of the products and services we offer are pretty straightforward. There aren't many options available when filing for a DBA name or an EIN number. However, if you want to incorporate or form an LLC, we offer four different packages for you to choose from.

The first is our 'Just the Basics' package, which comes with everything you need to get started. We do a name search, fill out and file your articles of organization or incorporation and, when everything is approved, ship you the paperwork. And, while that is all you technically need, most business advisers would recommend other documents to help protect the company and the people running it.

An LLC operating agreement or set of corporate bylaws, for example, are extremely important to establishing how the company will be run. Thus all of our packages after the basic option include a set of bylaws or an operating agreement, depending on what type of entity you are forming. You will also receive compliance tips, certificates, annual filing services, and a minute's ledger.

Our 'New To the World' package, which is our most popular, also comes with MyCorp's registered agent services, meaning you don't have to worry about finding, and paying for, a registered agent in your state. And our 'Business in a Box' package comes with all of that plus MyCorp's MaintainMyBiz service, which allows you to choose four types of maintenance filings for us to file each year.

3. Answer a few questions!

Mainly, we just need to know a little bit about your company and how to contact you. The amount of information we need on your company depends on what you are filing for. For example, if all you need is a DBA name, all we ask for is the type of entity your company is, where you do business, the name you want, and how to get in touch with you. Forming a corporation, on the other hand, is a lot more complicated. Along with your business's name, address, and your contact information, we typically need to know the names and addresses of any corporate officers or directors and your registered agent, as well as some general information about what your company does. The same goes for a limited liability company - the main difference is that, instead of information on your directors or executives, we need to know the names and addresses of all of the LLC's members.

However, we have designed our system to be easy and intuitive. A box with our most frequently asked questions is directly to the right of all of our forms and, if at any point you are confused, we are just a phone call or an e-mail away and are always happy to answer any questions you have. The MyCorp processing team even examines each order to prevent the possibility of error, and we will contact you if we find any problems before we file your paperwork.

After you make your payment, just sit back and relax - we take the information you provided, fill out the necessary forms, and file everything. Occasionally we will send you a few forms to sign, but the shipping process is quick and everything is clearly marked. We call every customer after an order is placed to answer any questions they might have and keep them appraised of the status of the order, ensuring that the final product is exactly what our customers want. As we said earlier, our mission at MyCorporation is to simplify the lives of, and help, entrepreneurs everywhere. And, after fifteen years, we've become pretty good at doing just that.
